Caiquen
Chloephaga picta

It is about 65 centimeters long. It is also known as “Avutarde” or “Goose of the Magellan”. Males and females are different, although they both have a short beak and black tail, with grey wings of greenish shades. Males have white feathers on their heads, neck, chest and abdomen, black tail and legs, and grey back. Females, on the other hand, have reddish brown feathers on its head, neck and chest, red chest with black stripes and yellow legs. The Chaiquen feeds on grass, flowers and fruits, and its predators are eagles, pumas and foxes.
