Caldera, located 75 kilometers northwest of Copiapo, is the main urban center in the shore area. It features great tourism facilities and infrastructure. The city has different attractions like its church, the former train station (National Monument), The Atacama University Cultural Center, the former customs building, and many others. During the year, Caldera is a port with different commercial activities (mainly from the wine industry). The Caldera beaches stand out because of their small waves, ideal for a family vacation.
