Ñandú (South American Ostrich)
Pterocnemia pennata

It is the South America Ostrich. It is grey-brown with white spots. Its long neck and its beak are of a hazel shade. Its lower body is white. This animal lives in groups and it is known for running very fast.
Distribucion
There are two kinds of ñandus in Chile: the Pterocnemia pennata pennata, found between Aysen, and Tierra del Fuego, and the Terocnemia pennata tarapacensis, seen in the highlands of northern Chile.
Habitat
In open fields.
