Algarrobo
Prosopis chilensis
It is 8 to 14 meters high. It has few branches that are flexible and have thorns, while its leaves are of a yellowish red. Its flowers bloom in October and its fruit of the tree is the algarroba, a brownish pod that is 30 cm long and that has in its interior a very sweet pulp that is used in “good food” recipes, as well for forage. Its seeds are uniform and its shape was the model used to create carats in jewelry.
