Illnesses
You do not need special vaccine to enter to the country, because Chile is not a dangerous infection area. You do need to be aware of some diseases before you arrive in the country:
- Hantavirus
- Respiratory desease, provoked by mice. Today, you will find it in China, the western side of United States, Argentina, Chile, Brasil and Paraguay. It is not en epidemic but you do need to take precautions if you plan on going to the countryside, camping or staying in cabins that have been locked up for a while. You should air and clean the area before your family arrives, and check for mice
- High Sickness or Puna
- Illness provoked by the lack of oxigen and pressure in the cordillera and highlands. Its symptons are strong headaches, breathing problems, nausea and general weakness when your body cannot adapt to the new climatic conditions

Vegetables
Vegetables can be bought at farmer's markets and grocery stores. If you buy them at open fairs, it is recommended that you boil them first to avoid contamination.
