Ski guide
Valle Nevado
It is the newest, most modern and largest ski center in Chile. It is located 60km away from Santiago, over three thousand meters of altitude and it can produce snow if it were necessary, to cover 30% of its surface, which is 9 thousand hectares.
Its infrastructure is super modern and it includes ski and heliski courts, heliboarding (where skiers are taken even higher up the mountain on a helicopter) and places where you can do snowboard in all its forms (Free Style and pirouettes), with special places for those.
Valle Nevado also has permanent snow patrols all over its premises, which help tourists in case of accidents in any part of the complex.
To get to Valle Nevado, from Santiago, you drive towards the Andes through Kennedy Avenue or Las Condes Avenue, taking the Road to Farellones and taking the detour at km 32 to Valle Nevado, where you need to drive for another 14km until you reach the Ski Center. Cars can only go up between 8am and 2pm, and cars go down the mountain between 2pm and 8pm. All cars must drive with chains around their tires.
The center has nine thousand hectares of surface and 39 tracks available for ski, the longest being 37 km. The tracks are divided according to different categories as follows: green (beginners), blue (average), red (advanced) and black (experts). There are also two special tracks for snowboard.
There are eleven lifts with double, triple and quadruple chairs, rope or pome, which reach 1676 meters as maximum altitude.
Valle Nevado features modern infrastructure, not only in its tracks, but in the three hotels that await tourists to visit and enjoy snow and skiing between July and October. Hotel Valle Nevado, Hotel Tres Puntas and Hotel Puerta del Sol offer, together, over two hundred rooms and a marvelous view of the mountains. They all have, as well, minimarket, restaurant, pub, entertainment room and heated pool, amongst other infrastructure meant to make your stay more comfortable and fun.
In Valle Nevado there is a ski school for groups and individual people, privates or semi-private, for adults and for children starting at four years old. They charge by person. You can also rent any necessary equipment at the center’s store.
