In the afternoon - City tour La Serena / Coquimbo. Pick up from your hotel. The tour departs from the Plaza de Armas (Main Square). This is a three-hour guided tour throughout the history, the neocolonial architecture and natural beauty of La Serena. The first stop will be the Archaeological Museum with a tour through the history and evolution of the city. The tour visits the picturesque handicraft market of La Recova, full of tyPical crafts, papaya products cultivated from the Elqui Valley, jumpers knitted from alpaca wool, ceramics with Diaguita (native people) designs. There is time for us to enjoy the panoramic view from the hill of the University of La Serena over the city and the bay of Coquimbo affording a splendid opportunity for a photo stop. The tour continues to the El Faro Lighthouse, symbol of La Serena, and then the Del Mar Avenue, where sophisticated buildings and tourist complexes will feature the regions tourist growth. The traditional fish market by the Port of Coquimbo is typical of this region, showing the great variety of fish and shellfish, which are available. This colorful scene shows the main industry of the city and its close connection with the ocean. As the tour continues to the beautiful resort of La Herradura in the bay of Guayacan, the history and legends of the pirates who invaded this coast is unveiled.

- Full day excursion to Elqui Valley; lunch included. After the breakfast at the hotel we will be picked up to enjoy a full day tour to the mystic, shocking and warm Elqui Valley, with a privileged location between the desert and vegetation. Here it will be possible to feel an energy recover, enjoying a mystical and esoteric atmosphere. Some people state that in the center of this valley, at the Cochiguaz area, the new geomagnetic center of the Earth is located. We will watch the Puclaro Reservoir that holds 200 million cubic meters of water, irrigating 700 hectares of surface. Here it is easy to see the white domes of the Tololo Observatory located there because of having one the clearest skies in the world. Among stunning vineyards, meet different varieties of Moscatel and Torontel grapes, which are used to make one of the most characteristic liquors in Chile, Pisco which is produced and bottled in the region. The short tour to the Pisco distillery will allow us to see the processes involved in the distillation of wine into this clear liquor. Visit the cellars, exhibition room and enjoy a tasting before continuing to Vicuña. Vicuña is the main town of the valley, located 60 kilometers away from La Serena, and it is the birthplace of the poet Gabriela Mistral, the Literature Nobel Prize winner. There will be time to see the Bauer Tower (old city hall), Vicuña's church and the Main Square. Lunch will be in a tyPical restaurant and is included in the full day tour. The tour begins its descent down the valley, stopping at the tomb of Gabriela Mistral in the village of Montegrande and a visit to the old schoolhouse where she spent her childhood and is now a small museum.

In the afternoon, we will continue to the Mamalluca Observatory. The Mamalluca amateur observatory is 1,200 meters above the sea level and far away from the light pollution of the city. Upon our arrival, the staff will give us an explanation and introduction to the stars, planets and galaxies. In small groups, we will access to the 12-inch diameter telescope, which is installed in the small dome or to use the portable telescopes outside in order to observe the stars in one of the clearest atmospheres in the world.
