Description
Meet the well-known Pintados Geoglyphs and the Nitrate factory-servicing town of Humberstone with this half day excursion, departing from Iquique.
Itinerary
Departure at 08:30 am, to the former Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Works (UNESCO World Heritage), to learn about their industrial machinery,
where nitrate was made to be exported to Europe and the USA. Its dusty streets and ruins such as the market, grocery store, theater, school and more. Route
to the south to have Box lunch in the Tamarugal Reserve and visit the CEDAM (Environmental Education Center), of CONAF. Where the entire ecosystem of the Reserve is exposed. Then we will visit the Parque de Geoglyphs of Pintados, which is the largest concentration of Geoglyphs in the world, more than 300
geomorphic, anthropomorphic and geometric figures located in thematic panels on the slope of the Cerros de la Cordillera de la Costa, dating from between 900 1,300 years ago. Where we will cross the immense Salar Seco de Pintados to admire the Geoglyphs.
Return direct to Iquique, leaving passengers at their place of lodging at 18:30 hrs.
