Tatio Geysers

We will leave early in the morning from our hotel in San Pedro de Atacama to go to the Tatio Geysers.

The Tatio Geysers are a geothermal field located in the Andes Mountain Range, being the highest in the world (4,200 meters high) and located 89 kilometers from San Pedro. It presents in the early morning hours an impressive activity of steam fumaroles produced by the high temperatures of its watery craters. It is surrounded by hills that reach 5,900 meters high. Around 07:00 hrs. the maximum expression of these steam and water fumaroles is produced with temperatures that reach 85ºC, and that emerge from the earth with force reaching heights of approximately 7 to 8 meters. On the way and in the place, it is possible to observe vicuñas, llamas, rheas and vizcachas, while in the flora stand out the giant cactus, llaretas and coirón. With its famous setting and spectacular scenery, the Geysers are clearly one of the most impressive attractions to visit. On the way back we will see the majesty of the Andes Mountains, whose peaks seem within reach of our hands.

On the way back to San Pedro de Atacama we will visit the Putana ford and the different wetlands that can be seen on the way back and the characteristic flora of the area, if we are lucky we will be able to see foxes and chinchillas.
